Job Overview:
A law firm is seeking an experienced Associate Attorney to represent mortgage servicers and investor clients in residential and commercial foreclosure, title, and general real estate litigation. This position also involves handling consumer claims against the firm’s clients. The successful candidate will be responsible for case strategy development, court appearances, drafting legal documents, conducting discovery, and managing trials, evidentiary hearings, and appeals. The role offers flexibility with the possibility of being in-office, hybrid, or fully remote, depending on qualifications.

Duties:

• Handle a caseload of contested foreclosures, defensive litigation, and related matters for mortgage servicers and investors.
• Lead the prosecution of commercial foreclosures from initiation to resolution.
• Analyze loan files, title reports, and client documents to inform case strategies.
• Draft motions, pleadings, settlement agreements, discovery requests, and responses.
• Represent clients in state and federal court for settlement conferences, motion arguments, trials, hearings, and appeals.
• Maintain regular communication with clients to ensure adherence to their instructions and provide updates on case progress.
• Collaborate with support staff to prepare and execute documents for client signatures, court filings, and reporting.
• Conduct legal research on complex cases and work with senior partners to strategize potential resolutions.
• Prepare case budgets, seek client fee approvals, and track billable and non-billable time.

Requirements:

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.
• Admission to the New York State Bar in good standing is required.
• Additional Bar memberships in New Jersey, Pennsylvania, or Connecticut are a plus but not mandatory.
• A minimum of 5 years of relevant litigation experience is preferred, though candidates with less experience may be considered based on qualifications.
• In-depth knowledge and experience with New York Mortgage Foreclosure Law and practice is essential.

Education:

• J.D. (Juris Doctor) from an accredited institution.
• Active and good standing with the New York State Bar.

Certifications:

• Admission to the New York State Bar is required.
• Bar membership in additional states (New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Connecticut) is a plus.
