Mid-Level Environmental Litigation Associate Attorney

Job Overview:

A law firm in Los Angeles, CA, is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Mid-Level Environmental Litigation Associate Attorney. This role requires a strong background in environmental law, with significant experience in environmental litigation, regulatory compliance, and advising clients on environmental matters. The successful candidate will demonstrate excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, and possess a proven ability to manage complex cases and provide strategic counsel to clients.

Duties:

• Effectively communicate with clients, lawyers, business professionals, and third parties verbally and in writing.
• Produce high-quality deliverables and respond to phone calls and correspondence efficiently.
• Provide timely and accurate work products and consistently meet deadlines.
• Foster positive work relationships and collaborate with team members.
• Comply with all firm policies and practices.
• Engage in physical and sedentary activities, including extended periods at a computer, digital/virtual conference calls, and in-person meetings.
• Perform additional duties, tasks, or projects as assigned.

Requirements:

• Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
• Admitted to practice in California.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in environmental law.
• Prior experience in a law firm or agency setting.
• Proven background in vital environmental statutes and regulations, including CERCLA, RCRA, relevant California laws, and common law.
• Concentrated experience in environmental litigation, defense of enforcement actions, and regulatory compliance.
• Familiarity with California state environmental agencies and preference for experience with federal agencies.
• Significant experience advising clients on business decisions related to emerging environmental issues, regulatory requirements, and public relations.
• Experience negotiating compliance, cost recovery, and permitting agreements.
• Comfort with technical aspects of environmental operations and remediation; experience with ecological consultants is required.
• Experience with sediment-based contamination and remediation is a plus.
• Background in representing clients in heavy, defense, chemical, and maritime industries is preferred.
