Job Overview
A premier law firm is seeking an experienced Immigration Attorney to handle EOIR (Executive Office for Immigration Review) cases. This position offers a unique opportunity to manage a caseload, represent clients in removal proceedings, and work alongside a team of experienced attorneys and legal assistants. The ideal candidate will have 1-5 years of immigration law experience and a passion for defending the rights of individuals in immigration proceedings. Duties

  • Represent non-detained and detained individuals in removal proceedings before the Immigration Court and Board of Immigration Appeals (BIA)
  • Manage a caseload of immigration cases, ensuring deadlines are met and clients are properly informed
  • Conduct intake interviews with detained individuals at detention centers
  • Prepare and review various immigration applications, including removal defense and family-based immigration petitions
  • Work with law enforcement, prosecutorial offices, and community-based organizations regarding changes in immigration law
  • Meet with potential clients for strategic consultations and develop legal strategies
  • Prepare clients and witnesses for court or USCIS testimony
  • Provide legal analysis to assess potential benefits for clients' cases
  • Prepare and submit legal briefs for a variety of immigration cases

Requirements

  • 1-5 years of experience practicing immigration law, with a focus on EOIR
  • Proven ability to manage a caseload and move legal cases forward
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, particularly when interacting with clients and colleagues
  • Experience in Family-Based Petitions, Humanitarian Relief, Detained Cases, Citizenship, and other USCIS applications
  • Preferably bilingual in English and Spanish
  • Familiarity with case management software is preferred
  • Ability to work well as part of a team and collaborate with associates

Education

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school

Certifications

  • Active Bar membership in good standing (State of Texas preferred)

Skills

  • Strong understanding of immigration law, particularly in EOIR proceedings
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to develop case strategies and provide legal analysis
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Comfortable handling both detained and non-detained immigration cases
  • Proficient with immigration-related applications and petitions
