Associate Personal Injury Attorney

A law firm seeks an Associate Personal Injury Attorney to join its team in Los Angeles, CA. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing various personal injury cases, preparing legal documents, attending court hearings, taking depositions, and negotiating settlements. Duties

• Manage a caseload of personal injury cases, including pre-litigation and ongoing litigation matters.
• Draft legal documents on behalf of clients, such as complaints, motions, and discovery responses.
• Prepare clients for depositions and hearings, ensuring proper understanding of proceedings.
• Take and defend depositions throughout the course of litigation.
• Attend court hearings, mediations, and other relevant legal proceedings.
• Negotiate settlements and advocate for clients’ best interests in personal injury cases.
• Support and direct investigations into assigned litigation matters, including working with experts and witnesses.
• Draft and review meet-and-confer letters to opposing counsel regarding discovery issues.
• Prepare and respond to various motions, including dispositive motions, in litigation cases.

Requirements

• Experience:
  • 1-2 years of experience in personal injury law, with a focus on litigation and pre-litigation case management.
  • Experience in taking and defending depositions is required.
• Skills:
  • Strong understanding of personal injury law and litigation processes.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong negotiation skills, especially in settlement discussions.
  • Ability to manage a diverse caseload and meet deadlines effectively.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) is preferred, but not required.
• Additional Qualifications:
  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Active membership in the California State Bar in good standing.
  • Workers' Compensation experience is a plus.
