Job Overview:

A law firm is seeking a Mid-level Environmental Regulatory Associate Attorney to join their team in Washington, DC. This role requires a strong background in environmental law, along with the ability to communicate effectively and manage multiple responsibilities in a fast-paced environment.

Duties:

  • Effectively communicate, verbally and in writing, with clients, colleagues, and third parties.
  • Produce deliverables and respond to correspondence promptly and efficiently.
  • Provide timely, accurate, and high-quality work products.
  • Meet deadlines and expectations while fostering positive work relationships.
  • Engage in both physical and sedentary activities, including extended computer work and virtual meetings.
  • Comply with all firm policies and practices.
  • Perform additional duties, tasks, or projects as assigned.

Requirements:

  • Background in environmental law with experience in key statutes (TSCA, FIFRA, CAA, CWA, CERCLA, RCRA).
  • Experience in environmental litigation, regulatory compliance, and defense of enforcement actions.
  • Familiarity with EPA, NOAA, Fish and Wildlife, DOI, and state agencies preferred.
  • Experience advising clients on environmental issues and liability exposure.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree required.
  • Admitted to practice in Washington, D.C. and at least one other state.

Certifications:

  • Bar membership in Washington, D.C. and an additional state.

Skills:

  • Strong analytical and writing abilities with attention to detail.
  • Excellent organizational and management skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and independently.
  • Demonstrated oral and written communication skills.
  • Research and problem-solving skills, with conceptual thinking.
  • Ability to influence others and persuasive communication skills.

Experience:

  • 3 years of prior law firm or agency experience.
