Entry-level Immigration Attorney

A law firm in Fresno, CA, is seeking an Entry-level Immigration Attorney to join their Immigration Team. Reporting to the Managing Immigration Attorney, the successful candidate will be responsible for managing a caseload, interacting with clients, and working collaboratively with a team of attorneys and legal assistants. This role is ideal for a recent law school graduate with a demonstrated interest in immigration law, who is eager to start their legal career in a supportive environment.

Duties:

• Explain immigration concepts and present strategic solutions to clients.
• Represent non-detained and detained individuals in removal proceedings before the Immigration Court and the Board of Immigration Appeals.
• Manage a caseload of immigration cases with supervision.
• Conduct intakes with detained individuals at detention centers.
• Prepare a variety of immigration applications, including removal defense and family-based petitions.
• Review and make necessary adjustments to immigration applications and packets.
• Collaborate with law enforcement, prosecutorial offices, and community-based organizations on changes in immigration law.
• Meet with potential clients for consultations to determine legal strategies.
• Assist in developing case strategies and preparing clients and witnesses for court or USCIS testimony.
• Provide legal analysis to identify potential benefits and case strategies.
• Prepare and submit legal briefs for different types of immigration cases.

Requirements:

• Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
• Active Bar admission (law graduates awaiting admission will also be considered).
• Demonstrated interest in immigration law through law school clinics, volunteer work, or internships.
• Bilingual (Spanish) is preferred.
• Exceptional interpersonal skills with a proven ability to manage and advance legal cases.
• Experience with Case Management Software is preferred.

Education and Certifications:

• Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
• Admission to the Bar in the state of California, or awaiting admission.
