Job Overview:
A law firm is seeking an entry-level attorney specializing in consumer bankruptcy law, particularly Chapter 7 and Chapter 13 cases. This position offers an exciting opportunity for newly admitted attorneys, or those with minimal bankruptcy experience, to gain hands-on experience and grow professionally. The ideal candidate will work in a fast-paced, technology-driven environment and contribute to providing clients with effective legal counsel in financial hardship situations.

Duties:

  • Represent clients in Chapter 7 and Chapter 13 bankruptcy proceedings.
  • Manage a high volume of consumer bankruptcy cases with personalized client service.
  • Utilize technology for client consultations, court appearances, and case management.
  • Perform financial calculations and analysis relevant to bankruptcy cases.
  • Draft and review legal documents, pleadings, and motions.
  • Keep up-to-date with changes in bankruptcy laws and procedures.
  • Communicate with clients, opposing counsel, and courts via various digital platforms, including Zoom.

Requirements:

  • Must be licensed to practice law in Louisiana (or other states’ licenses may be considered).
  • Ability to travel to various locations within Louisiana (e.g., Shreveport, Alexandria, Lafayette).
  • Strong communication skills and client management abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
  • High comfort level with technology and virtual tools.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Louisiana State Bar License (or eligibility to practice in Louisiana).

Skills:

  • Proficiency with Zoom and other video conferencing platforms for client meetings and hearings.
  • Basic video production skills for creating professional video content.
  • Strong writing skills and ability to draft clear legal documents.
  • Ability to analyze client financial situations and perform financial calculations.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Excel for case management and financial analysis.
  • Sales and client consultation experience is a plus.
