Job Overview:
A leading law firm is seeking an experienced Employee Benefits & Executive Compensation Associate to join its highly-ranked team. This position offers an opportunity to work with a diverse range of clients, including publicly traded corporations, privately held companies, financial institutions, and tax-exempt organizations. The role involves advising on a variety of employee benefits and executive compensation issues, including retirement plans, health and welfare programs, non-qualified deferred compensation plans, and more. Location: Washington, DC 

Duties:

  • Advise clients on employee benefits and executive compensation matters, including design, implementation, and maintenance of tax-qualified retirement plans, health and welfare benefit programs, and non-qualified deferred compensation plans.
  • Draft and analyze health and welfare plans and qualified retirement plans.
  • Address ERISA fiduciary matters and provide compliance guidance.
  • Counsel clients on the employee benefits aspects of M&A transactions.
  • Develop and maintain strong, trusting client relationships.
  • Collaborate with senior attorneys and clients to strategize and resolve complex legal issues.

Requirements:

  • 3-6 years of experience in employee benefits and executive compensation law.
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze, design, and draft health and welfare plans and qualified retirement plans.
  • Strong understanding of ERISA fiduciary duties and related compliance matters.
  • Experience in the employee benefits aspects of M&A transactions.
  • Ability to foster and manage client relationships.
  • Strong attention to detail and analytical skills.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Admission to the bar in the state of practice or eligibility for admission.

Skills:

  • Expertise in employee benefits and executive compensation law.
  • Proficiency in health and welfare plan analysis and drafting.
  • Strong knowledge of ERISA and compliance requirements.
  • Experience in M&A-related employee benefits matters.
  • Excellent communication, writing, and interpersonal skills.
  • Client management and strategic legal counsel capabilities.
