Duties:

  • Provide strategic guidance on U.S. trade regulations and ensure client compliance.
  • Manage client representation in trade-related issues, including import and export control laws.

  • Conduct in-depth legal research and analysis on trade compliance.
  • Draft, negotiate, and review legal documentation related to international trade.
  • Represent clients in regulatory proceedings, obtaining required licenses and clearances.
  • Monitor updates in international trade laws and inform clients of regulatory changes.

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in corporate transactions, focusing on international trade law.
  • Demonstrated expertise in handling issues related to tariff classifications, customs valuation, trade remedies, and trade preference programs.
  • Proven ability to navigate trade regulations and advise on compliance.
  • Licensed and in good standing in Michigan or Washington, D.C.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited institution.

Certifications:

  • State Bar license (Michigan or Washington, D.C.).

Skills:

  • Strong knowledge of trade preference programs and applications (e.g., USMCA, AD/CVD).
  • Proficient in complex trade regulation compliance.
  • Exceptional research, analytical, and writing capabilities.
  • Effective communicator, capable of simplifying legal terminology for clients.
  • Excellent organizational and multitasking skills.
  • Ability to manage projects independently and in a team setting.
  • Familiarity with ITAR, EAR, CFIUS, and OFAC Sanctions Programs is advantageous.
