Senior Criminal Defense Attorney

A law firm in Fresno, CA is seeking a Senior Criminal Defense Attorney to join their team. The ideal candidate will manage a diverse caseload, provide legal counsel to clients, and represent them in criminal proceedings at federal, state, and local levels. This role requires strong advocacy skills, bilingual proficiency in Spanish, and experience handling complex criminal cases.

Job Responsibilities:

• Report to and collaborate with the Managing Criminal Defense Attorney.
• Manage a caseload and interact directly with clients.
• Advise clients on their legal rights and draw up legal documents related to their cases.
• Attend pretrial hearings and provide strategic advice following each hearing.
• Conduct court appearances, trials, draft motions, interview witnesses, and conduct legal research.
• Analyze potential case outcomes based on legal precedents.
• Manage workload effectively and prioritize cases based on urgency and complexity.
• Provide legal analysis to clients regarding case strategies and potential benefits.
• Gather additional evidence to support clients' cases or challenge prosecution's charges.
• Prepare clients for depositions and gather information from witnesses and experts.

Requirements:

• Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
• Admission to the State Bar of California in good standing.
• 4-5 years of experience practicing criminal defense law.
• Proven experience handling complex criminal cases at federal, state, and local levels.
• Fluency in Spanish is required.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Strong advocacy skills and ability to negotiate effectively.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
