The ideal candidate will focus on advising fintech and financial services companies, especially in payments products and services, helping them navigate the evolving regulatory landscape. Duties:

  • Represent fintech innovators, startups, and founder-led companies in all stages, from pre-formation to capital markets.
  • Provide strategic advice on the development of new payment products and platforms, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations.
  • Draft and review a variety of legal documents, including memos, contracts, risk disclosures, and legal alerts.
  • Collaborate with team members and clients to solve complex issues and create customized strategies.
  • Participate in business development efforts, helping to grow and strengthen the practice.
  • Work closely with partners, receiving mentoring and gaining leadership opportunities within the practice group.
  • Engage in client-facing interactions, helping to shape the future of financial services and fintech innovation.
  • Stay up-to-date with regulatory changes and industry developments to provide the most effective legal solutions.

Requirements:

  • 1 to 3 years of experience, particularly in the payments sector, banking, or financial services law.
  • Strong interest and experience in the fintech industry, particularly in payment products/services.
  • Ability to think creatively and strategically to address complex legal challenges while adhering to regulations.
  • Excellent writing and communication skills, with the ability to simplify and present complex legal concepts.
  • Eagerness to take on responsibility and contribute to building a growing practice.
  • Ability to work effectively in a hybrid environment, with the flexibility to meet in the office as needed.
  • Strong work ethic, with a proactive and solution-oriented mindset.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Active membership in the state bar where the candidate is applying, in good standing.

Skills:

  • Exceptional writing, research, and drafting skills, especially in legal contexts.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a focus on practical solutions.
  • Experience with fintech, payments, and banking-related matters is essential.
  • Ability to manage client relationships and handle complex legal issues with professionalism.
  • Solid knowledge of regulatory frameworks affecting financial services and fintech companies.
  • Comfortable working in a hybrid, fast-paced environment with changing demands.
  • Strong communication skills for both internal collaboration and client interactions.
