Job Overview: A prominent law firm in Midtown Manhattan is seeking a highly experienced Associate Attorney to join its Commercial Bankruptcy Group. This role involves representing commercial mortgage lenders in enforcement proceedings and handling complex bankruptcy litigation. Duties:

  • Represent commercial mortgage lenders in bankruptcy enforcement proceedings involving commercial real estate.
  • Appear in Bankruptcy Courts for EDNY and SDNY, managing motion practice, evidentiary hearings, trials, and appeals.
  • Draft and negotiate legal documents, including settlement agreements, plans, and workout solutions under the Bankruptcy Code.
  • Conduct legal research and draft motions, briefs, and other court filings.
  • Manage all aspects of litigation, from pleadings to negotiations, in bankruptcy-related cases.
  • Collaborate with clients to provide strategic legal advice and represent their interests in court.

Requirements:

  • Admitted to practice law in New York State (required).
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in commercial real estate and bankruptcy litigation.
  • Admission to practice in New Jersey is a plus.
  • Proven experience representing commercial mortgage lenders in bankruptcy courts.
  • Strong familiarity with the Bankruptcy Code and related litigation.
  • Excellent legal research, writing, and analytical skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple cases efficiently in a fast-paced environment.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Active New York State Bar license (required).
  • New Jersey Bar admission (preferred but not required).

Skills:

  • Proficient in bankruptcy and commercial real estate law.
  • Strong litigation, negotiation, and communication skills.
  • Ability to draft and implement complex legal documents.
  • Excellent organizational and prioritization abilities.
  • Strong interpersonal skills for effective client communication.
