A law firm seeks a dedicated Local Government Attorney to join its Greater Orlando/Daytona Beach office. This opportunity is ideal for an attorney with at least 3 years of experience in local government law who is eager to contribute to the legal needs of public entities. The successful candidate will be responsible for advising on a wide range of government-related issues, including public records, procurement, ethics, and local government regulations. Litigation experience is a plus, and candidates should be willing to travel within the region for government-related events and meetings.

Duties

  • Provide legal advice to local government clients on a variety of issues, including government contracts, procurement processes, Sunshine laws, public records laws, and ethics regulations.
  • Advise local government entities on compliance with state and federal legal standards and regulations.
  • Draft and review contracts, agreements, and other legal documents related to local government operations.
  • Represent clients in legal proceedings and manage litigation matters when necessary.
  • Stay current with changes in local government laws and policies.
  • Participate in government meetings and events as needed, and travel throughout the region for client engagements.
  • Collaborate with other attorneys and legal professionals to provide comprehensive legal support to clients.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in local government law, with a focus on contracts, procurement, public records, and ethics.
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to navigate complex government regulations.
  • Proven experience in providing practical legal advice to public entities.
  • Comfort with travel for government-related events and meetings.
  • Litigation experience is a plus, though not required.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.

Education

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications

  • Active member of the Florida Bar in good standing.
