A law firm seeks an experienced Immigration Attorney to join its team in Charlotte, North Carolina. This full-time, on-site position requires a highly motivated attorney to manage various immigration cases, including employment-based petitions, family-based immigration, asylum, deportation/removal cases, federal litigation, and naturalization. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of immigration laws and regulations, with the ability to handle complex legal issues effectively.

Duties:

  • Manage all aspects of immigration cases, including employment-based petitions, family-based immigration, and asylum applications.
  • Handle deportation/removal defense and provide legal representation in federal immigration litigation.
  • Guide clients through the naturalization process and other immigration-related matters.
  • Represent clients in hearings and proceedings, ensuring thorough case preparation and effective advocacy.
  • Provide legal advice and counsel to clients regarding their immigration options, rights, and responsibilities.
  • Stay updated on current immigration laws, policies, and regulations to provide the best possible legal support to clients.
  • Draft and file petitions, motions, appeals, and other legal documents as necessary.
  • Work closely with clients, government agencies, and other stakeholders to resolve complex immigration issues.

Requirements:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Admission to the state bar in North Carolina.
  • Strong knowledge of U.S. immigration law, including experience with various visa types, asylum applications, and deportation/removal defense.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with clients and government agencies.
  • Strong analytical skills and problem-solving abilities to navigate complex immigration cases.
  • Ability to handle a large caseload and meet deadlines while providing high-quality legal services.
  • Prior experience in federal litigation, including habeas corpus cases, is a plus.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Active Bar membership in North Carolina.

Skills:

  • In-depth knowledge of U.S. immigration law and regulations.
  • Experience handling various immigration cases, including visas, family-based immigration, and asylum.
  • Strong legal research, writing, and drafting skills.
  • Excellent client management and communication skills.
  • Ability to analyze complex legal issues and provide practical solutions.
  • Experience in federal immigration litigation is highly desirable.
