Job Overview: A highly respected law firm in Los Angeles is seeking a dedicated and experienced Senior Immigration Attorney to join their dynamic team. The Senior Immigration Attorney will collaborate closely with a talented team of attorneys and legal assistants while reporting to the Managing Immigration Attorney.

Location: Los Angeles, CA

Duties:

  • Represent clients in removal proceedings before the Immigration Court and the Board of Immigration Appeals (BIA), both detained and non-detained cases
  • Manage and oversee a diverse caseload of immigration matters
  • Conduct intake interviews and provide legal assistance to detained individuals at detention centers
  • Prepare and file a variety of immigration applications, including family-based petitions, removal defense, and other USCIS applications
  • Review and edit immigration applications and petitions for accuracy and completeness
  • Work with law enforcement, prosecutorial offices, and community organizations on immigration-related legal matters
  • Provide strategic legal consultations to clients and develop case strategies
  • Prepare clients and witnesses for testimony in court or before USCIS
  • Draft and submit legal briefs for various immigration cases
  • Provide legal analysis and determine potential benefits for clients' immigration cases

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 5-8 years of experience practicing Immigration Law
  • Strong ability to manage a caseload and work independently
  • Team-oriented with excellent interpersonal skills and a collaborative work ethic
  • Record of successfully advancing legal cases through to resolution
  • Experience handling family-based immigration petitions, humanitarian cases, EOIR, detained matters, citizenship applications, and other USCIS processes
  • Familiarity with Case Management Software is a plus
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred, but not required

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school

Certifications:

  • Active membership and good standing with the State Bar of California (or ability to gain admission)

  • Expertise in Immigration Law and its various subfields
  • Strong legal research, writing, and analytical skills
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
