Job Overview:
A well-established employment law firm is seeking junior Associate Attorney to join its remote team. This role is focused on representing employees in litigation related to discrimination, retaliation, harassment, wage and hour violations, and wrongful termination. The position offers a unique opportunity to manage active cases, interact directly with clients, and grow within a supportive and mission-driven legal team. Ideal candidates will have a passion for employment law and be based in or relocating to New England or New York.

Location:

  • Portland, ME

Duties:

  • Conduct initial consultations and assess the merits of potential employment law cases

  • Draft legal documents including discrimination charges, complaints, motions, and correspondence

  • Perform legal research and draft memoranda on case law and regulatory issues

  • Represent clients in state and federal courts and before administrative agencies

  • Handle case management responsibilities with oversight from a partner

  • Engage in settlement negotiations and participate in mediations

  • Maintain clear, compassionate, and consistent communication with clients

  • Track deadlines, manage workflows, and prioritize litigation tasks effectively

Requirements:

  • UBE score of 270 or higher is required

  • Recent bar exam takers with a 3.5+ law school GPA will also be considered

  • Must currently reside in or be relocating to a qualifying state (ME, MA, NH, VT, CT, RI, or NY)

  • Access to a private, professional home workspace suitable for confidential legal work

  • Must have reliable transportation for occasional regional travel

  • Interest in long-term career development within the field of employment law

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an ABA-accredited law school

  • Law school and undergraduate GPA must be included in the application

Certifications:

  • Bar admission in a relevant jurisdiction is preferred

  • Willingness to seek bar admission in additional applicable states (with firm support)
