Patents Associate Attorney

Job Overview: A law firm in Chicago, IL, is seeking a dedicated Patent Associate Attorney with 3-5 years of patent law experience, including Patent Agent experience. The ideal candidate will possess a technical background in fields such as Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications, Computer Sciences, or Physics, with a preference for candidates holding a Master’s degree or Ph.D. USPTO Registration and Illinois Bar membership are required.

Duties:

• Manage a busy patent prosecution docket efficiently.
• Conduct patentability and freedom-to-operate analyses.
• Draft patent applications and responses to office actions.
• Collaborate with inventors, clients, and firm colleagues.

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in a technical field (e.g., Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications, Computer Science, or Physics).
• 3-5 years of experience in patent law, including Patent Agent experience.
• USPTO Registration number.
• Membership in the Illinois Bar.
• Experience with patent litigation and Patent Trial and Appeal Board proceedings preferred.
• Proficiency in Mandarin (preferred).
• Excellent academic and professional credentials.
• Highly developed writing, analytical, and communication skills.

Education and Certifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in a technical field.
• JD from an accredited law school.
• USPTO Registration.
