Job Overview: A law firm specializing in employment law seeks an experienced Employment Lawyer to provide expert legal counsel and representation to employer clients on various employment-related matters.

Job Duties:

  • Counsel employer clients on a broad spectrum of employment law issues, including but not limited to discrimination, harassment, wage and hour compliance, wrongful termination, and employee benefits.
  • Assist in developing and implementing personnel policies, procedures, and handbooks tailored to client needs.
  • Draft and negotiate employment agreements, severance agreements, and other employment-related contracts.
  • Represent clients in administrative proceedings before the EEOC, MPSB, and other agencies and in litigation, including appeals, depositions, and hearings.
  • Provide legal guidance on labor unions, collective bargaining agreements, and union disputes (experience with labor unions is a plus).

Requirements:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from a top-ranked law school.
  • Active membership in good standing with the Washington, DC Bar.
  • 7+ years of experience in employment law at an AmLaw 100 firm or equivalent.
  • Proven track record of handling complex employment law matters with successful outcomes.
  • Strong ability to communicate complex legal issues effectively, orally and in writing.
  • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced legal environment.

Preferred Skills and Certifications:

  • Experience handling labor union matters and collective bargaining agreements.
  • Prior experience representing employers in administrative hearings and litigation.
  • Certification or specialization in employment law (e.g., SHRM-SCP, Board Certified in Labor and Employment Law).
