Duties:

  • Represent clients in removal proceedings before Immigration Court and the Board of Immigration Appeals, handling both detained and non-detained cases
  • Manage a diverse caseload and ensure timely progress of each case
  • Conduct intake sessions with detained individuals at detention centers
  • Prepare a range of immigration applications, including removal defense, family-based petitions, and other related cases
  • Review and adjust immigration applications/packets as needed to ensure compliance and accuracy
  • Collaborate with law enforcement, prosecutorial offices, and community organizations to stay updated on immigration law changes
  • Provide consultations to potential clients and develop strategic approaches tailored to their cases
  • Prepare clients and witnesses for court hearings or USCIS interviews
  • Draft and submit legal briefs for various immigration cases
  • Analyze clients’ cases to identify potential legal benefits and strategies for successful outcomes

Requirements:

  • 1-5 years of experience in immigration law, particularly with EOIR proceedings
  • Ability to manage a caseload effectively and efficiently
  • Strong interpersonal skills and a team-oriented approach
  • Bilingual proficiency (English/Spanish) preferred
  • Experience with family-based petitions, humanitarian relief, detained cases, citizenship matters, and USCIS applications
  • Familiarity with case management software is a plus

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school
  • Active membership in good standing with the state bar

Certifications:

  • Admitted to practice law in the state of Texas

Skills:

  • Exceptional communication and client interaction skills
  • In-depth knowledge of immigration laws and procedures
  • Ability to develop creative legal strategies
  • Strong organizational and multitasking abilities
  • Proficiency in case management software (preferred)
