A law firm seeks a dedicated and persuasive Immigration Litigation Attorney to join its Charlotte, NC office. This role involves representing clients in a variety of immigration cases, including removal defense, asylum, and family-based petitions while ensuring clients receive exceptional advocacy and guidance. The ideal candidate is a strong communicator with the ability to craft compelling legal arguments, effectively present in court or hearings, and stay current on ever-evolving immigration laws and policies.

Duties

  • Provide legal representation in immigration cases, including asylum claims, removal defense, and family-based immigration.
  • Represent clients in immigration court and before U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS).
  • Prepare and file legal documents, including petitions, applications, and motions.
  • Conduct thorough client consultations to assess case strategies and advise on legal options.
  • Stay updated on changes in immigration regulations, case law, and policy shifts.
  • Develop persuasive legal arguments and respond to judicial inquiries and opposing counsel’s challenges.
  • Maintain open communication with clients, offering compassionate and professional legal counsel.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in immigration litigation, including representation in court settings.
  • Proficiency in analyzing complex legal cases, and regulations, and drafting well-supported legal arguments.
  • Strong public speaking and interpersonal skills, with the ability to present confidently in court or hearings.
  • A commitment to staying informed about changes in immigration laws and related areas.

Education

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school.

Certifications

  • Active license to practice law in at least one U.S. jurisdiction.

Skills

  • Expertise in immigration law, with a focus on litigation and courtroom advocacy.
  • Excellent analytical skills for case assessment and strategy development.
  • Strong written and verbal communication abilities for legal documentation and client interaction.
