Litigation Associate Attorney

A law firm in Huntington, WV is seeking a Litigation Associate Attorney with at least 3 years of experience in medical malpractice and/or nursing home litigation. The ideal candidate will have strong writing and analytical skills, excellent academic credentials, and a desire to actively participate in court proceedings. An active license to practice law in West Virginia is required.

Key Responsibilities:

• Represent clients in medical malpractice and nursing home litigation cases.
• Manage all aspects of litigation, including case evaluation, drafting pleadings, conducting discovery, and preparing for trial.
• Appear in court for hearings, motions, and trial proceedings.
• Conduct legal research, prepare legal memoranda, and draft motions, briefs, and other legal documents.
• Collaborate with senior attorneys to develop case strategies and provide legal counsel to clients.
• Handle depositions of witnesses and experts, and prepare clients for deposition.
• Analyze medical records, expert reports, and other evidence to build strong cases.
• Negotiate settlements and engage in alternative dispute resolution processes when appropriate.
• Keep clients informed about case progress and potential outcomes.

Requirements:

• Experience:
  • Minimum of 3+ years of litigation experience, specifically in medical malpractice and/or nursing home litigation.
  • Proven ability to manage complex cases and appear in court.
• Education:
  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school with excellent academic credentials.
• Licensure and Certifications:
  • Active license to practice law in West Virginia is required.
