Job Overview: A law firm in San Antonio, TX, seeks a dedicated and skilled EOIR Immigration Attorney to join their team. The successful candidate will provide expert legal counsel, represent clients in various immigration matters, and work collaboratively with a team of associates. This role requires a comprehensive understanding of immigration law, exceptional interpersonal skills, and the ability to manage a diverse caseload effectively.

Duties:

  • Explain complex immigration concepts and present strategic solutions to clients.
  • Represent non-detained and detained individuals in removal proceedings before the Immigration Court and Board of Immigration Appeals.
  • Manage a diverse workload of immigration cases.
  • Visit detention centers to conduct intake interviews with detained individuals.
  • Prepare various immigration applications, including those related to removal defense and family-based immigration petitions.
  • Review and adjust immigration applications/packets as necessary.
  • Collaborate with law enforcement, prosecutorial offices, and community-based organizations on immigration law changes.
  • Conduct strategic consultations with potential clients to determine appropriate legal strategies.
  • Develop strategies and prepare clients and witnesses for court and USCIS testimony.
  • Provide detailed legal analysis to clients to identify potential case benefits.
  • Prepare and submit legal briefs for a variety of immigration cases.

Requirements:

  • 1-5 years of experience in Immigration Law.
  • Proven ability to work as part of a team, demonstrating a willingness to assist and collaborate with fellow associates.
  • Record of effectively moving legal cases forward and managing a caseload.
  • Preferably bilingual in English and Spanish.
  • High-caliber interpersonal skills.
  • Experience with Family-Based Petitions, Humanitarian cases, EOIR, Detained cases, Citizenship, and other USCIS applications.
  • Preferably experienced with Case Management Software.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Active membership in good standing with the state bar.

Certifications:

  • Admission to the state bar is required.
  • Additional certifications in immigration law are a plus.

Skills:

  • Strong legal research and writing skills.
  • Excellent communication and advocacy skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
  • Proficiency in using legal research tools and case management software.
