Job Overview:
A prominent law firm is seeking an Associate Attorney with 3-5 years of experience in commercial litigation and personal injury matters to join its Houston office. The ideal candidate will have a strong knowledge of current procedural and substantive law, as well as federal and state rules. The Associate Attorney will handle case assessments, court appearances, depositions, discovery, client correspondence, and settlement conferences, contributing to all aspects of case management from intake through resolution. Location:

Duties:

  • Assess liability, loss, and damages in commercial litigation and personal injury cases
  • Manage client reporting, billing, budgeting, and case management requirements
  • Prepare and respond to discovery requests
  • Conduct depositions and client interviews
  • Represent clients in court appearances and settlement conferences
  • Perform legal research and draft legal briefs, motions, and other documents
  • Ensure adherence to federal, state, and local procedural rules
  • Meet or exceed monthly billable hour goals
  • Participate in settlement negotiations
  • Occasional travel as required for case-related matters

Requirements:

  • 3-5 years of litigation experience, preferably in commercial litigation and personal injury
  • Licensed to practice law in Texas (TX Bar License required)
  • Strong communication, writing, and presentation skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Knowledge of federal, state, and local rules
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Word, and Excel
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to manage multiple cases and meet deadlines effectively
  • Ability to handle client interactions professionally and maintain positive relationships

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school

Certifications:

  • Texas State Bar License (required)
