Job Overview:
A prestigious law firm is seeking a Partner Attorney specializing in estate planning to join its High Net Worth Practice Group. This position is ideal for an attorney committed to delivering high-quality legal work and exceptional client service. The role requires extensive experience in estate planning, trust administration, and corporate matters, with a focus on serving high-net-worth clients. Location:

  • Detroit, MI

Duties:

  • Prepare estate planning documents, including revocable trusts, wills, powers of attorney, and various irrevocable trusts (e.g., GST/Dynasty trusts, GRATs, QPRTs).
  • Administer complex trusts and estates independently.
  • Conduct legal research and advise clients on estate, gift, and income tax matters.
  • Provide guidance on corporate matters and prepare formation and governance documents (e.g., operating agreements, buy-sell agreements).
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients and professional advisors.
  • Mentor associates and team members, providing guidance on assignments.
  • Delegate tasks to associates, paralegals, and legal secretaries, overseeing their work.
  • Manage multiple large projects, ensuring efficient task prioritization and client communication.

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in estate planning and high-net-worth client services.
  • Demonstrated expertise in trust and estate administration and tax planning.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Active admission to the Michigan State Bar.

Skills:

  • Proficiency in drafting estate planning documents and handling complex estate and tax matters.
  • Strong client relationship management and communication skills.
  • Ability to mentor and guide team members effectively.
  • Exceptional organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple high-priority projects.
