Job Title: Personal Injury Attorney

Job Overview:
A well-established and growing law firm based in Lafayette, IN is seeking an experienced and highly motivated Personal Injury Attorney to join their team. The role involves managing personal injury cases from inception to resolution with minimal supervision, including working remotely with a dispersed legal team. This position offers an opportunity to handle diverse and challenging legal cases, including motor vehicle accidents while contributing to the firm’s success.

Duties:

  • Manage all aspects of personal injury cases from start to finish, ensuring timely and effective resolutions.
  • Negotiate and settle cases during the pre-litigation phase.
  • Review policies, claims, and relevant records to assess case details and develop strategies.
  • Prepare, draft, and argue legal documents in court.
  • Oversee case docket management in accordance with office protocols and deadlines.
  • Direct discovery processes, including medical record reviews and evaluations.
  • Supervise legal support staff, such as paralegals and case managers, working on assigned cases.
  • Ensure compliance with deadlines and Statutes of Limitations to guarantee timely case progress and closure.

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience managing personal injury cases, especially motor vehicle accident cases, through all phases of litigation.
  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an ABA-accredited law school.
  • Active law license in the state of Indiana (additional Illinois license preferred).
  • Ability to travel infrequently as required by case needs.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an ABA-accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Current license to practice law in the state of Indiana.
  • Additional licensure in Illinois is a plus.

Skills:

  • Proven expertise in personal injury law, specifically motor vehicle accident cases.
  • Strong negotiation, drafting, and litigation skills.
