Job Overview: A law firm in Chicago, IL, is seeking a Real Estate Leasing Partner with extensive experience in commercial leasing, preferably on the landlord side, encompassing office, industrial, and retail sectors. The ideal candidate should possess a substantial client base and demonstrate proficiency in negotiating leases for various types of owners, including REITs and institutional owners.

Duties:

  • Negotiate and draft commercial lease agreements for office, industrial, and retail properties.
  • Provide legal counsel to clients on all aspects of leasing transactions, including lease disputes and terminations.
  • Conduct due diligence on lease agreements and property documents.
  • Collaborate with real estate developers, landlords, tenants, and property managers.
  • Stay updated on relevant laws and regulations impacting leasing transactions.

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 8+ years of experience in commercial leasing.
  • Demonstrated expertise in negotiating and drafting lease agreements.
  • Experience representing both landlords and tenants, with a preference for landlord-side work.
  • Strong understanding of real estate laws and regulations.
  • Excellent negotiation and communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Admission to the Illinois State Bar or eligibility for admission through reciprocity.

Certifications:

  • Certification in Real Estate Law (preferred but not required).

Skills:

  • Proficiency in legal research and analysis.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills for building and maintaining client relationships.
  • Business development skills, with a portable book of business, are considered a plus.
