A law firm seeks a dedicated, experienced Associate Attorney specializing in construction law. This role is essential for handling a range of construction contract claims, both public and private, while working closely with clients and supporting the firm’s litigation efforts.

Duties

  • Manage construction contract claims, including public and private disputes.
  • Participate in arbitration processes and prepare cases for trial.
  • Navigate and apply laws relating to mechanic’s liens, stop notices, bid protests, public contract law, prompt payment law, and payment/performance bonds.
  • Assess and strategize on claims involving contract extras, delay damages, impact damages, and liquidated damages.
  • Utilize knowledge of alternate project delivery methods in case handling.
  • Conduct depositions, including those of percipient and expert witnesses, related to construction claims.
  • Develop and implement discovery plans, ensuring thorough execution.
  • Draft and review legal documents such as motions, depositions, and correspondence regarding construction litigation.
  • Communicate effectively with clients, demonstrating professionalism and expertise in legal and strategic matters.
  • Take ownership of assigned matters, creating and executing strategic plans for resolution.
  • Exhibit self-motivation and exceptional follow-through in all responsibilities.

Requirements

  • 3-5 years of experience in handling construction contract claims.
  • Proven experience in arbitration and trial preparation.
  • Familiarity with construction claims and related legal issues.

Education

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.

Certifications

  • Admitted to practice law in California.

Skills

  • Strong written communication skills, particularly in legal writing and documentation.
  • Ability to manage multiple cases effectively under supervision.
