Job Overview:
An established law firm is seeking an Immigration Attorney to join its team in Los Angeles, CA. This position presents an excellent opportunity for a motivated and skilled attorney to grow within a dynamic firm. The successful candidate will manage their caseload, interact with clients, and collaborate with an experienced Immigration Team, handling a wide range of immigration matters, including removal defense, family-based immigration, and other USCIS applications. Location:

  • Los Angeles, CA

Duties:

  • Develop strategies and prepare clients and witnesses for court and USCIS testimony
  • Represent non-detained and detained individuals in removal proceedings before the Immigration Court and Board of Immigration Appeals
  • Manage and prioritize a caseload of immigration cases
  • Visit and conduct intakes with detained individuals at detention centers
  • Prepare immigration applications, including removal defense and family-based immigration petitions
  • Review immigration applications and packets, making necessary adjustments
  • Collaborate with law enforcement, prosecutorial offices, and community organizations on immigration law changes
  • Meet with potential clients for strategic consultations and determine appropriate legal strategies
  • Provide legal analysis to clients, identifying potential case benefits
  • Draft and submit legal briefs for various immigration cases

Requirements:

  • 3 to 5 years of experience in immigration law
  • Proven ability to manage a caseload and move legal cases forward
  • Team-oriented with a collaborative approach to work
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred but not required
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Experience with Family-Based Petitions, Humanitarian cases, EOIR, Detained cases, Citizenship applications, and other USCIS applications
  • Familiarity with case management software is preferred

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school

Certifications:

  • Admitted to practice law and in good standing in the jurisdiction where the position is based

Skills:

  • Strong knowledge of immigration law, including removal defense and family-based immigration
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to handle complex immigration cases and work under pressure
  • Strong client management skills and the ability to advise clients on strategic matters
  • Collaborative team player with a client-focused approach
