A law firm seeks a junior to mid-level attorney with a focus on public safety, and civil, and criminal prosecution matters, particularly in the area of code enforcement and gun confiscation. This position, based in Los Angeles, CA, offers the flexibility to work remotely or in a hybrid setup. The successful candidate will provide legal support to municipal clients, representing them in a variety of code enforcement matters. Travel to client offices and courts across California will be required.

Duties:

  • Represent municipal clients in code enforcement matters, including gun confiscation cases.
  • Advise clients on compliance with local and state regulations related to public safety and law enforcement.
  • Manage a caseload involving both civil and criminal aspects of code enforcement issues.
  • Conduct legal research, prepare legal documents and draft pleadings.
  • Attend court hearings and client meetings, providing counsel and representing clients.
  • Travel throughout California as necessary for client meetings and court appearances.

Requirements:

  • Must be licensed to practice law in California.
  • 3 to 5 years of experience in handling code enforcement, public safety, or criminal matters is preferred but not required.
  • Experience in municipal law or prosecution is an asset.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to handle a diverse caseload and work independently.
  • Willingness to travel within California as needed.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Active membership in the State Bar of California.

Skills:

  • Knowledge of code enforcement and public safety regulations.
  • Strong litigation and legal writing skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with clients, government agencies, and courts.
  • Comfortable working independently and managing client relationships.
  • Organizational skills to handle a varied and fast-paced caseload.
