Senior Immigration Attorney

A law firm in Bakersfield, CA is seeking a highly experienced Senior Immigration Attorney to join their team. This role involves managing a diverse caseload, representing clients in various immigration proceedings, and working closely with the Managing Immigration Attorney. The ideal candidate will be skilled in handling complex immigration cases, providing strategic legal advice, and working collaboratively with a dedicated team of attorneys and legal assistants.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Report to the Managing Immigration Attorney and manage an individual caseload with client interaction.
• Collaborate with the Immigration Team, including attorneys and legal assistants.
• Explain immigration concepts and present strategic solutions to clients.
• Represent non-detained and detained individuals in removal proceedings before the Immigration Court and the Board of Immigration Appeals.
• Visit and conduct intake interviews with detained individuals at detention centers.
• Prepare and file a variety of immigration applications, including removal defense and family-based immigration petitions.
• Review and adjust immigration applications/packets as necessary.
• Work with law enforcement, prosecutorial offices, and community-based organizations on changes in immigration law.
• Meet with potential clients for strategic immigration consultations and develop case strategies.
• Develop strategies and prepare clients/witnesses for court or USCIS testimony.
• Provide legal analysis to determine potential benefits and outcomes of cases.
• Prepare and submit legal briefs for various immigration cases.
• Actively participate in team efforts, offering support, strategizing, and collaborating with fellow associates.
• Maintain a record of advancing legal cases and managing a caseload efficiently.
• Bilingual (Spanish) is preferred.

Requirements:

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.
• Admission to the State Bar association.
• At least 5-8 years of experience in Immigration Law.
• Extensive experience with Family-Based Petitions, Humanitarian applications, EOIR cases, Detained cases, Citizenship, and other USCIS applications.
• Experience with Case Management Software is preferred.
• Exceptional interpersonal skills and a proven ability to work effectively with clients and colleagues.
