Job Overview:

A prestigious law firm in Los Angeles, CA, is seeking an experienced and motivated Associate Immigration Attorney. This role presents a significant opportunity for career advancement within a dynamic legal team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing their own caseload while also working collaboratively with other attorneys and legal assistants. The position offers exposure to a variety of immigration cases, including family-based petitions, removal defense, and humanitarian applications.

Location:

  • Los Angeles, CA

Duties:

  • Develop legal strategies and prepare clients/witnesses for court/USCIS testimony.
  • Represent non-detained and detained individuals in removal proceedings before the Immigration Court and Board of Immigration Appeals.
  • Manage an active caseload and ensure timely progression of cases.
  • Conduct client intakes and site visits to detained individuals at detention centers.
  • Prepare and file diverse immigration applications, including removal defense, family-based immigration petitions, and humanitarian applications.
  • Review and edit immigration applications/packets, ensuring compliance with regulations and requirements.
  • Collaborate with law enforcement, prosecutorial offices, and community-based organizations on immigration law matters.
  • Meet with potential clients for strategic consultations and determine appropriate legal strategies.
  • Provide legal analysis and advice to clients regarding the possible benefits and risks of their cases.
  • Draft and submit legal briefs for a variety of immigration cases.

Requirements:

  • At least 3-5 years of experience in Immigration Law.
  • Ability to manage a caseload independently and effectively.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work well in a collaborative environment.
  • Proven track record of successfully moving legal cases forward.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred, but not required.
  • Proficient with Case Management Software preferred.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Admitted to the state bar (California preferred).

Skills:

  • In-depth knowledge of Immigration Law, including Family-Based Petitions, Humanitarian Law, EOIR, Detained Cases, and USCIS applications.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong organizational and case management skills.
  • Attention to detail and ability to work under tight deadlines.
  • Proficiency in legal research and analysis.
