A law firm in Washington, DC, is seeking a Litigation Support Attorney to join their team. The successful candidate will have a Juris Doctor (JD) degree, an active U.S. bar license, and experience in document review for complex litigation matters. This role involves utilizing modern technology for organizing and reviewing documents, conducting legal research, and supporting attorneys with various legal tasks. The candidate should possess strong attention to detail, excellent communication skills, and the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Organize, review, code, and tag documents for relevance, confidentiality, and privilege.
  • Create, compile, organize, and index exhibits, reports, and physical evidence for legal proceedings.
  • Conduct legal research and draft legal documents as needed, identifying relevant laws, statutes, regulations, and court opinions.
  • Utilize online databases such as Lexis Nexis and Westlaw to perform legal research.
  • Support agency attorneys with discovery processes and communication with opposing counsel.
  • Assist in drafting initial versions of motions (e.g., dispositive) and pleadings.
  • Prepare briefs, legal memoranda, and motions, often under tight deadlines.

Requirements:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Active U.S. bar license in good standing in any U.S. jurisdiction.
  • Minimum of 1+ years of document review experience in complex litigation matters.
  • Proficiency in using modern technology and remote office equipment.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Critical thinking skills and ability to follow complex work direction.

Skills:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to organize and manage large volumes of documents and evidence.
  • Proficient in legal research using Lexis Nexis, Westlaw, and other online databases.
