Associate Attorney Construction Defect

A law firm seeks a motivated and dynamic associate attorney to join its litigation team in Houston, TX. This full-time position will primarily focus on defending clients in construction defect cases, including general contractors, subcontractors, and design professionals involved in both commercial and residential construction disputes. The ideal candidate will have a strong interest in construction law and civil litigation, with the ability to work closely with senior attorneys in a collaborative environment. Duties

• Defend clients in construction defect litigation, including claims involving general contractors, subcontractors, and design professionals.
• Handle various other civil litigation cases as needed, ensuring the best possible legal outcomes for clients.
• Assist with case strategy, preparation, and drafting of legal documents such as motions, pleadings, and discovery requests.
• Represent clients in hearings, depositions, and settlement negotiations.
• Collaborate with senior attorneys to refine case strategies and receive guidance in complex legal matters.
• Communicate with clients, opposing counsel, and experts to gather information and manage case progress.
• Maintain organized case files and ensure timely updates are provided to clients and colleagues.
• Engage in legal research and assist with trial preparation as required.

Requirements

• Admission to the Texas State Bar and in good standing.
• 0-10 years of experience in civil litigation; some experience in construction defect litigation is preferred but not required.
• Ability to work independently, handle a diverse caseload, and prioritize tasks efficiently.
• Strong writing, communication, and research skills.
• Excellent organizational and time-management abilities.
• Proactive and motivated with a commitment to professional growth and client satisfaction.

Education

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school.

Certifications

• Texas State Bar license (required).
