Job Overview
A prominent law firm is seeking a highly skilled Mid-Level Associate to join its national Employee Benefits practice. This position offers a unique opportunity to work with a diverse range of employee benefits issues, including retirement plans, executive compensation, health and welfare plans, and more. The ideal candidate will have experience in employee benefits law and ERISA, with the ability to provide insightful legal counsel and develop effective strategies for clients.

Duties

  • Advise clients on a wide range of employee benefits matters, including qualified retirement plans, executive compensation, health and welfare plans, fringe benefits, and mergers and acquisitions/downsizing.
  • Draft and review legal documents, such as retirement plan documents, employee benefit plan summaries, and compliance materials.
  • Provide strategic guidance to clients on complex legal issues related to employee benefits and ERISA.
  • Collaborate with senior attorneys to develop legal strategies and offer practical solutions to clients.
  • Represent clients in negotiations and proceedings related to employee benefits matters.
  • Stay current with regulatory changes and case law developments affecting employee benefits.

Requirements

  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in employee benefits law and ERISA.
  • Experience with qualified retirement plans, executive compensation, health & welfare plans, and fringe benefits.
  • Prior experience with mergers and acquisitions/downsizing related to employee benefits is desirable.
  • Strong research, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, particularly the ability to explain complex legal issues in a clear and concise manner.
  • Must be admitted to practice law in one of the following jurisdictions: California, Illinois, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, or Washington, DC.

Education

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications

  • Admission to the state bar.

  • Strong knowledge of employee benefits law, ERISA, and related regulations.
  • Excellent drafting, research, and analytical skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
  • High attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
