A law firm in Redwood City is seeking a Science Advisor/Patent Agent. The candidate will be responsible for the following: Experience in drafting patent applications, responding to office actions, conducting patentability and freedom-to-operate analyses, and performing due diligence for corporate transactions and technology transfers. Strong academic credentials and exceptional written and verbal communication skills are required. A background with an M.D. or Ph.D. in biology or chemistry is essential, and law firm experience is strongly preferred.

 

Duties:

  • Draft patent applications and responses to office actions, ensuring accuracy and compliance with patent laws and regulations.
  • Conduct prior art searches to analyze patentability and freedom to operate.
  • Perform due diligence for corporate transactions and technology transfers related to patents.
  • Collaborate with attorneys and clients to assess and strategize on patent-related matters.

 

Requirements:

  • Prior experience in drafting patent applications and office action responses.
  • Strong academic background and a record of scholarly achievement.
  • Preferred experience working within a law firm setting.

 

Education and Certifications:

  • M.D. or Ph.D. in biology or chemistry.
  • Any relevant certifications or qualifications related to patent law or intellectual property rights would be advantageous.
