A law firm seeks an experienced Foreclosure Associate Attorney to join its team in supporting the firm’s foreclosure practice. The successful candidate will assist in providing legal guidance to clients, reviewing legal documents for compliance, and managing non-attorney staff to ensure timely progression of files. This role involves developing subject matter expertise in foreclosure law, providing legal counsel to both internal teams and clients, and collaborating with other departments to meet client objectives and deadlines.

Duties:

  • Subject Matter Resource:

    • Develop and share expertise in foreclosure law to ensure smooth progression of client files.
    • Stay updated on legal developments in relevant jurisdictions and advise colleagues and clients accordingly.
    • Research and review unfamiliar legal concepts to expand knowledge and address client needs.
    • Consult with senior attorneys and managing attorneys on complex legal questions and escalate as needed.
    • Provide timely, clear responses to legal inquiries from staff and clients.
  • Legal Review Counsel:

    • Review and verify the legal sufficiency of foreclosure documents, ensuring compliance with local regulations and client expectations.
    • Correct and execute legal documents when appropriate.
    • Monitor progress of attorney tasks and ensure timely completion.
    • Escalate complex issues to senior attorneys when necessary.
  • Oversight and Collaboration:

    • Oversee staff involved in the foreclosure process, ensuring compliance with legal, ethical, and client requirements.
    • Educate and mentor junior staff, providing legal counsel and guidance.
    • Collaborate with internal teams such as Towne Auction and eTitle to ensure smooth file progression and timely client deliverables.
    • Provide feedback to senior attorneys on team performance and efficiency.
  • File Management:

    • Apply legal judgment to move client files through the foreclosure process efficiently.
    • Regularly review aged files and develop strategies to meet client timeline goals.
    • Participate in discussions and workgroups focused on improving file progression and overcoming delays.

Requirements:

  • Law degree (JD) from an accredited law school.
  • Admission to the relevant state bar and “Good Standing” status.
  • Minimum of 1-3 years of experience in foreclosure law, preferably with exposure to public sector or real estate law.
  • Experience reviewing and drafting legal documents related to foreclosure, eviction, and debt collection.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple cases simultaneously.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a focus on client satisfaction and meeting deadlines.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Active membership in the State Bar in good standing.

Skills:

  • Proficient in MS Office (Word, Outlook, Excel) and Adobe/Nuance Power PDF.
  • Comfortable with emerging technologies and able to quickly adapt to new software tools.
  • Strong analytical and legal research skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues and clients.
