A law firm seeks a highly skilled Senior Immigration Attorney to join its growing team in Fresno, California. Duties:

  • Provide expert legal advice on a wide range of immigration issues, offering strategic solutions tailored to individual client needs.
  • Represent clients in removal proceedings before the Immigration Court and Board of Immigration Appeals (BIA), advocating for non-detained and detained individuals.
  • Manage and prioritize a caseload of diverse immigration cases, including family-based petitions, citizenship applications, removal defense, and humanitarian matters.
  • Conduct thorough intakes and site visits to detention centers to assess the legal options of detained individuals.
  • Review and prepare immigration applications, ensuring they meet legal standards and addressing any discrepancies or issues.
  • Collaborate with law enforcement, prosecutorial offices, and community organizations on immigration law matters and legislative changes.
  • Meet with potential clients for consultations, assess their eligibility for immigration benefits, and develop effective legal strategies.
  • Prepare clients and witnesses for hearings and testimonies before USCIS, immigration courts, and other authorities.
  • Draft and submit legal briefs for a variety of immigration-related cases.
  • Maintain strong client relationships by providing clear updates and ensuring clients are informed throughout the legal process.

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 5-8 years of experience in immigration law.
  • Proven track record of managing a diverse caseload and progressing legal cases efficiently.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, capable of building rapport with clients and colleagues alike.
  • Experience with a wide range of immigration cases, including family-based petitions, detained cases, removal defense, and citizenship applications.
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish is preferred but not required.
  • Knowledge of case management software and immigration-specific legal tools is advantageous.
  • Ability to work independently while contributing to a collaborative team environment.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Active membership in the state bar (California) or eligibility to practice in California.

Skills:

  • Comprehensive knowledge of immigration law, including procedures related to deportation defense, family-based petitions, citizenship, and humanitarian claims.
  • Strong legal research, writing, and analytical skills.
  • Proven ability to manage a high-volume caseload and meet deadlines.
