Job Title: Commercial Real Estate Partner - Chicago, IL

Job Overview:

A reputable law firm in Chicago, IL, is seeking an experienced and motivated Commercial Real Estate Partner to join its real estate practice. The ideal candidate will be involved in representing property owners, developers, lenders, and investors in a variety of commercial real estate transactions. This role is an excellent opportunity for an attorney with strong real estate experience to handle complex transactions and play a key role in business development and client relationship management.

Duties:

  • Handle all aspects of complex commercial real estate transactions including acquisitions, dispositions, sales, financings, leasing, and development.
  • Represent clients across a variety of industries in sophisticated real estate matters.
  • Oversee title, survey, entity, and other real estate diligence.
  • Negotiate, draft, and manage material agreements and documentation related to real estate transactions.
  • Advise clients on a wide range of real estate matters including zoning, entitlement, and tax issues.
  • Lead, manage, and close complex real estate transactions.
  • Serve as a business advisor to clients throughout the lifecycle of legal matters.

Requirements:

  • 7-12 years of experience in commercial real estate law.
  • Strong transactional experience, including commercial office and retail leasing, development, lending, and financing.
  • Additional experience in commercial lending and banking transactions, including real estate loans and asset-based loans, is a plus.
  • Experience with entitlement, zoning, and tax issues related to real estate transactions is preferred.
  • Licensed to practice law in Illinois or eligible to waive into Illinois with a UBE score.
  • Excellent writing, oral communication, and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and tasks efficiently.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build and maintain client relationships.
  • A proactive and problem-solving mindset.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Must be licensed to practice in Illinois or eligible to practice via UBE score or comity.

Certifications:

  • Licensed to practice law in Illinois or other relevant state qualifications with eligibility to transfer or sit for the Illinois Bar.

Skills:

  • Expertise in commercial real estate law and transactions.
  • Strong negotiation and drafting skills.
  • Ability to manage and close complex transactions efficiently.
  • Excellent attention to detail and multitasking capabilities.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills to build relationships with clients and colleagues.
