General Liability Of Counsel

A law firm in Buffalo, NY is seeking a General Liability Of Counsel to join their team. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in managing general liability cases, including file review, legal analysis, and litigation. This role requires strong writing and research skills, the ability to handle a high volume of cases, and effective representation of clients in court and other legal proceedings. The position involves an annual billable hour requirement and may include some travel.

Duties:

• Review files and conduct legal analysis of general liability claims and causes of action.
• Perform extensive legal research and draft substantial briefs, memos, pleadings, and appellate briefs.
• Regularly represent clients in court, at arbitrations, and during depositions.
• Draft and respond to discovery requests.
• Retain and collaborate with expert witnesses as needed.
• Prepare for and attend trials, including developing trial strategies and presenting cases.
• Maintain an annual billable hour requirement of 1950 hours.
• Respond promptly to email and phone inquiries from clients and colleagues.
• Demonstrate excellent client interaction skills and a professional telephone manner.
• Some travel may be required for client meetings, court appearances, and depositions.

Requirements:

• J.D. degree from an ABA-approved law school.
• Admitted to practice in the state of New York; admission in additional states is a plus.
• Minimum of 4+ years of experience in general liability.
• Exceptional writing, research, and litigation skills.
• Superior analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Solid research capabilities and strong written and oral communication skills.
• Ability to self-manage a high caseload and work effectively within a team environment.
• Strong work ethic and commitment to meeting billable hour requirements.

Education:

• Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an ABA-approved law school.

Certifications:

• Admitted to practice law in New York; additional state admissions are advantageous.
