The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in local government law, demonstrating exceptional analytical and research skills, and will be comfortable traveling throughout the area for various government events. This position requires a proactive approach to legal challenges, a thorough understanding of government contracts and procurement, Sunshine and public records laws, government ethics, and local government operations.

 

Duties:

  • Represent local government clients in legal proceedings, including litigation, administrative hearings, and negotiations.
  • Provide legal advice and counsel to local government entities on a wide range of issues including contracts, procurement, ethics, and compliance with Sunshine and public records laws.
  • Draft, review, and revise legal documents such as ordinances, resolutions, contracts, and agreements.
  • Conduct thorough legal research and analysis on various local government issues and prepare detailed reports and opinions.
  • Attend and participate in government meetings, public hearings, and other events to provide legal guidance and support.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable local, state, and federal laws and regulations.
  • Collaborate with other attorneys, government officials, and staff to address complex legal matters and develop effective legal strategies.
  • Stay updated on changes in local government laws and regulations and advise clients accordingly.

 

Requirements:

  • Member of the Florida Bar in good standing.
  • 1-5 years of experience in local government law.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent research and writing skills.
  • Ability to travel throughout the area for various government events.
  • Familiarity with government contracts and procurement, Sunshine and public records laws, government ethics, and local governments.

 

Education:

Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.

 

Certifications:

Licensed to practice law in the state of Florida.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Proficient in legal research tools and software.
