Job Overview:

A law firm is seeking a motivated Litigation Attorney to join its team in a remote capacity, supporting the Texas-based corporate office. The firm specializes in debt recovery litigation and works with major banks and creditors. This is an excellent opportunity for an attorney with civil litigation experience to grow in a dynamic, high-volume environment. The role is salary-plus-commission, with commissions based on attorney-negotiated settlements, and no billable hour requirement.

Location:

  • Carrollton, TX

Duties:

  • Negotiate the resolution of pending litigation, including motion practice and settlement negotiations.
  • Review and draft pleadings, discovery, and other legal documents.
  • Execute documents and handle all duties related to a high-volume litigation practice.
  • Represent clients at hearings and trials within the assigned regional area.
  • Travel to court for hearings and trials as required (mileage and travel-related expenses reimbursed).
  • Work collaboratively with staff, opposing counsel, and the courts in a professional manner.
  • Participate in firm-sponsored training as necessary to enhance skills and knowledge.

Requirements:

  • Licensed and in good standing with the State of Texas.
  • Minimum of 1 year of civil litigation experience preferred.
  • Comfort and proficiency with technology, including Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to work independently and manage a high caseload effectively.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Experience in debt collection is a plus, though training is available for candidates without prior collection experience.
  • Must be able to travel to court and for training sessions when required.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Texas Bar License (Required).

Skills:

  • Experience in civil litigation and courtroom procedures.
  • Strong negotiation and settlement skills.
  • Excellent legal writing, including the drafting of pleadings and discovery documents.
  • Ability to handle a high-volume caseload efficiently.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office suite and general technology.
