Job Overview:
A prestigious law firm is currently seeking an experienced Patent Agent to join its Intellectual Property team, specializing in the medical devices and bioengineering sectors. The role involves drafting and prosecuting patent applications, responding to office actions, assisting with the preparation of legal opinions, and conducting prior art searches. Strong expertise in mechanical engineering, artificial intelligence, computer science, or related fields would be advantageous. The ideal candidate should have a proven background in patent prosecution and a passion for working with cutting-edge technologies in the medical device industry.

Duties:

  • Draft and prosecute patent applications in medical devices and bioengineering fields.
  • Respond to office actions and engage in patent prosecution efforts.
  • Assist with the preparation of legal opinions and patent strategies.
  • Conduct thorough prior art searches to support patent filings and applications.
  • Collaborate with legal teams to ensure the protection of intellectual property.
  • Maintain communication with clients, providing updates on patent progress.
  • Stay up-to-date with developments in patent law, medical device innovations, and bioengineering trends.

Requirements:

  • At least 2 years of experience as a Patent Agent in patent prosecution.
  • Proven track record in drafting and prosecuting patent applications.
  • Admitted to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO).
  • Experience or interest in working with medical devices, bioengineering, and related technologies.

Education:

  • Bachelor's or higher degree in bioengineering, engineering, computer science, or a related field.

Certifications:

  • USPTO registration is required.

Skills:

  • Strong knowledge of patent law and intellectual property protection strategies.
  • Proficient in conducting prior art searches and preparing legal opinions.
  • Excellent communication and analytical skills.
