A law firm seeks a motivated Litigation Associate to join their civil defense practice in Royal Oak, MI. This position offers a unique opportunity to work with municipalities, law enforcement, and businesses in defending civil rights, police procedures, and premises liability cases. The role provides immediate hands-on experience in both state and federal courts, with direct client interaction and court appearances. You will be supported through a structured mentorship program while managing a manageable caseload of 10-15 cases.

Duties

• Defend clients in civil rights, police procedure, and premises liability cases.
• Represent clients in state and federal courts, providing comprehensive legal representation.
• Conduct legal research and draft motions, pleadings, and other legal documents.
• Interact directly with clients to understand their needs and provide tailored legal advice.
• Work closely with a team of attorneys and support staff, contributing to case strategy and litigation processes.
• Participate in client meetings and court appearances, developing expertise in civil defense.
• Maintain organized case files, ensuring compliance with legal regulations and deadlines.

Requirements

• Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
• Admission to the Michigan Bar, or pending admission.
• Strong legal research and writing skills.
• Interest in civil rights defense and municipal defense law.
• New graduates are welcome to apply.
• Ability to relocate to Royal Oak, MI.

Education
