Job Overview
An established law firm in Cincinnati, OH, seeks a skilled and dedicated Associate Attorney to join its Tax Practice. This role focuses on state and local tax matters, encompassing a variety of tax areas such as sales and use taxes, gross receipts taxes, property taxes, and income taxes. This is a unique opportunity for a tax professional with a strong background in SALT law to collaborate within a dynamic legal environment. Additional experience in Mergers & Acquisitions (M&A) or nonprofit taxation is beneficial but not essential.

Duties

  • Provide legal counsel and guidance in state and local tax matters, including sales, property, income, and gross receipts taxes.
  • Support clients through tax planning and compliance within relevant jurisdictions.
  • Collaborate with team members to analyze tax implications related to client business transactions.
  • Engage in research to address complex tax issues and to provide clients with insightful recommendations.
  • Draft and review tax-related legal documents and provide strategic legal advice to clients.
  • Contribute to the Tax Practice through collaboration and knowledge-sharing with colleagues.

Requirements

  • 2+ years of experience in tax law, specifically with state and local taxation.
  • Familiarity with sales and use taxes, gross receipts taxes, property taxes, and income taxes.
  • Experience in M&A tax or nonprofit tax is a plus.

Education

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Admittance to the Ohio State Bar (or eligibility for reciprocal admission).

Certifications

  • An active member of the Ohio Bar Association or eligible to practice law in Ohio.
