Duties

  • Provide expert legal advice on immigration matters and present strategic solutions to clients.
  • Represent clients in removal proceedings before the Immigration Court and Board of Immigration Appeals.
  • Conduct intakes and legal consultations with detained and non-detained individuals.
  • Prepare and submit a variety of immigration applications, including family-based petitions and removal defense.
  • Review and revise immigration application packets as needed.
  • Collaborate with law enforcement, prosecutorial offices, and community organizations regarding immigration law updates.
  • Develop legal strategies and prepare clients and witnesses for court appearances and USCIS interviews.
  • Draft and submit legal briefs for various immigration cases.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 1-4 years of experience practicing immigration law.
  • Proven ability to manage a diverse caseload and move legal cases forward efficiently.
  • Familiarity with family-based petitions, humanitarian cases, EOIR processes, detained cases, and USCIS applications.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and a collaborative mindset.
  • Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish is strongly preferred.
  • Familiarity with case management software is a plus.

Education

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Admission to practice law in Illinois.

Certifications

  • Illinois Bar admission is required.
