Job Overview: A law firm seeks an experienced litigation attorney to join its team in Phoenix, Arizona. This full-time position is ideal for a motivated attorney with recent experience in insurance defense, particularly in construction defect, casualty, personal injury, and related legal areas. The role offers the opportunity to work on complex matters, with a focus on high-stakes litigation. The successful candidate will have excellent writing and analytical skills, experience handling expert depositions, and some trial experience, with a path for further growth and professional development.

Duties:

  • Handle litigation matters from case inception through resolution, including preparing legal briefs, motions, and discovery documents.
  • Conduct expert witness depositions and defend depositions as part of the case strategy.
  • Appear in court for hearings and trials, including some trial preparation and serving as second chair or lead attorney.
  • Collaborate with senior attorneys on case strategy, settlement discussions, and litigation tactics.
  • Manage caseload, ensuring timely preparation and filing of all legal documents and motions.
  • Assist in fieldwork and light travel as needed for case investigations and client meetings.
  • Maintain communication with clients, providing updates and offering legal guidance on case matters.

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 3 years of litigation experience, with a focus on insurance defense, construction defect litigation, casualty, or personal injury cases.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills, with the ability to draft compelling legal arguments and handle complex legal analyses.
  • Ability to take and defend depositions, including expert witness depositions.
  • Some trial experience is preferred, either as lead or second chair.
  • Willingness to perform fieldwork and attend court appearances as necessary.
  • Arizona Bar license is required (additional licenses in CA, WA, NM, or OR are a plus).

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Active Arizona Bar License (required).
  • Additional state bar licenses are a plus (CA, WA, NM, OR).

Skills:

  • Strong legal research, writing, and analytical skills.
  • Ability to take and defend depositions, especially with expert witnesses.
  • Trial preparation and experience with courtroom procedures.
  • Ability to manage a caseload and prioritize tasks efficiently.
