Job Overview:
A well-established law firm in Galveston, Texas, is seeking an entry-level Commercial Litigation Associate to join its Litigation Group. This firm handles a broad range of cases in both state and federal courts. The associate will be involved in assisting with cases from inception to completion, conducting legal research, working with clients, drafting legal documents, and preparing for hearings and trials. The ideal candidate will have a strong work ethic, excellent legal research and writing skills, and a desire to grow in a dynamic legal environment.

Location:

  • Galveston, Texas

Duties:

  • Assist with commercial litigation cases from inception to completion.
  • Conduct legal research to support case strategies and arguments.
  • Work directly with clients to gather information and provide legal advice.
  • Draft and respond to discovery requests and legal documents.
  • Prepare, write, and file briefs, motions, and pleadings.
  • Attend hearings and trials, providing support and legal representation as needed.
  • Collaborate with senior attorneys and firm team members on case preparation.

Requirements:

  • 1-3 years of experience as a licensed attorney.
  • Excellent research and writing skills.
  • Strong work ethic and attention to detail.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Experience with law review or moot court/mock trial preferred.
  • Ability to work independently and within a team.
  • Admittance to the Texas State Bar.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Texas State Bar License in good standing.
