Job Overview: A prominent law firm is seeking a mid-level Tax Associate to join its Affordable Housing and Tax Credit Team. This is an exciting opportunity for a lateral associate who wants to be part of an expanding team with a focus on providing legal services related to affordable housing projects. The position is available across several major U.S. markets and offers the chance to work on complex tax matters and develop expertise in affordable housing programs at the federal, state, and local levels.

Location:

  • Pittsburgh, PA

Duties:

  • Provide legal counsel in the development, acquisition, construction, rehabilitation, operation, and sale of affordable multifamily housing for both for-profit and nonprofit developers.
  • Advise clients on tax matters related to federal income tax credits and partnership tax.
  • Draft and review legal documents associated with tax credits and affordable housing transactions.
  • Work with a range of federal, state, and local affordable housing programs.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support clients’ needs in complex tax and real estate matters.
  • Build and maintain client relationships through effective communication and high-quality legal service.

Requirements:

  • At least two years of experience in partnership tax law, with a preference for experience in federal income tax credits.
  • Strong background in accounting.
  • Active member (in good standing) of any state bar.
  • Excellent writing, analytical, and communication skills.
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines effectively.

Education:

  • Undergraduate degree in Accounting (required).
  • LLM in Taxation (preferred).

Certifications:

  • Active membership in a state bar (in good standing).

Skills:

  • Expertise in partnership tax law and tax credits.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a team and independently.
