A law firm in Irvine, CA, is seeking a White Collar and Government Investigations Associate Attorney with 2-4 years of experience in international trade regulatory, compliance, and enforcement. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with the Committee on Foreign Investments (CFIUS), U.S. export controls, and International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR). Knowledge of the Defense Priorities & Allocation System (DPAS) is preferred. The candidate must be admitted and actively barred in California.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Advise clients on compliance with CFIUS, U.S. export controls, and ITAR regulations.
  • Handle complex legal matters related to international trade, including regulatory filings, compliance audits, and enforcement actions.
  • Conduct and manage internal investigations regarding compliance with trade regulations.
  • Prepare and review legal documents, including regulatory submissions, compliance reports, and related correspondence.
  • Provide strategic legal guidance to clients on navigating government investigations and enforcement actions.
  • Collaborate with legal teams and clients to develop and implement effective compliance programs and strategies.
  • Stay updated on changes in trade regulations and enforcement practices, advising clients on potential impacts.

Requirements:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Active membership and good standing with the California State Bar.
  • 2-4 years of experience in international trade regulatory, compliance, and enforcement matters.
  • Demonstrated experience with CFIUS, U.S. export controls, and ITAR regulations.
  • General knowledge of the Defense Priorities & Allocation System (DPAS) is preferred.
  • Proven ability to support an active team in regulatory and compliance matters.

  • Strong legal research, analytical, and drafting skills.
