A law firm in Austin, TX is seeking an Immigration Attorney to join their team. Reporting to the Sr. Associate Attorney, the Immigration Attorney will manage a caseload, interact with clients, and collaborate with the firm's Immigration Team of Attorneys and legal assistants. The role involves explaining immigration concepts, representing clients in various proceedings, and preparing a range of immigration applications. The ideal candidate will have 1 to 4 years of immigration law experience, be bilingual in Spanish, and possess excellent interpersonal skills.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Report to the Sr. Associate Attorney and manage a caseload of immigration cases.
  • Explain complex immigration concepts and provide strategic solutions to clients.
  • Represent non-detained and detained individuals in removal proceedings before the Immigration Court and the Board of Immigration Appeals.
  • Conduct intakes with detained individuals at centers and gather necessary information.
  • Prepare diverse immigration applications, including removal defense and family-based immigration petitions.
  • Review and make necessary adjustments to immigration applications and packets.
  • Collaborate with law enforcement, prosecutorial offices, and community-based organizations on changes in immigration law.
  • Meet with potential clients for strategic consultations and determine appropriate immigration strategies.
  • Develop case strategies and prepare clients and witnesses for court and USCIS testimony.
  • Provide legal analysis to identify potential case benefits and prepare legal briefs for various immigration cases.

Requirements:

  • At least 1 to 4 years of experience in Immigration Law.
  • Bilingual in Spanish preferred.
  • Proven ability to manage a caseload and advance legal cases effectively.
  • Experience with Family-Based Petitions, Humanitarian cases, EOIR, Detained cases, Citizenship, and other USCIS applications.
  • Familiarity with case management software preferred.

Education and Certifications:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Active license to practice law in the relevant jurisdiction (Texas preferred).

  • Expertise in immigration law and procedures.
  • Proficiency in using case management software.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to handle multiple cases and prioritize tasks effectively.
